maPlatine.com tells you all about the few days we spent with the team of the famous brand Pro-Ject in Austria. Find out about the manufacturer’s production site and new turntable models. When we arrived, we took a tour around Vienna.

The production site is based in the Czech Republic, Jerôme and Franck took a tour around all 8 floors!
The visit begins! With a first class guide: Heinz Lichtenegger, who is none other than the founder of the firm 22 years ago. At the time of our visit, Pro-Ject was celebrating the production of its 500,000th turntable!

Carbon tonearms
The tonearms of the new 1-Xpression Carbon turntable, the brand’s 4th top-selling model. The tonearm is entirely made of carbon, the platter is made of die-cast aluminium and the synchronous motor is separate from the chassis. The turntable comes with a 2M Red cartridge by Danish manufacturer Ortofon.

Debut Carbon turntable before testing
Tests: each turntable is tested following production: cartridge, VTA adjustment, cartridge alignment, azimuth, etc. Pro-Ject checks the tonearm bearing and checks with respect to electrical standards.
The turntables run for 4 hours to check that they are perfectly adjusted!
Pro-Ject’s amazing Signature 12 turntable. The manufacturer has placed its expertise in this turntable with a 12 inch tonearm and two synchronous motors.

It is Pro-Ject’s most affordable model, boasting flawless build quality and musicality. It is easy to use and comes with an Ortofon OM5e cartridge with an elliptical stylus.
The X-tension 9 CC, shown here in piano black, comes with a speed controller, a 9 inch tonearm (hence the name) and an aluminium platter.
